There's a lot to look forward to in 2015 and plenty of ways to get involved as we celebrate Bathurst's bicentenary - we have many endorsed events already on our 2015 calendar and lots of programs and projects planned to bring the community together throughout 2015.

Bathurst District Historical Society-Flagpoles for Private Homes


The historical society is encouraging local businesses and residents to erect their own flag staff in honour of the bicentenary and has worked with Bathurst Regional Council on its policy and regulations regarding the flying of flags. bathursthistory.org.au

Bathurst District Historical Society-Pictorial History of Bathurst

The Bathurst Community Website is helping to spread the word about the Bathurst bicentenary celebrations by promoting the Bathurst 200 official logo.  bathurst.nsw.au 

 

 

Greening Bathurst-Cox's Road Dreaming


Greaning Bathurst in partnership with the Land Property Information Division is preparing an 80-page booklet and accompanying digital information describing 120 sites that can be visited along sections of Cox's Road and subsequent colonial roads. It includes 8 strip maps, 4 about the road's geography, geology and vegetation and 4 identifying where each site is located between Bathurst and the Nepean River. The booklet is richly supplied with photos and images including A4 reproductions of Lewin's 1815 paintings. Our dreaming story focuses on history, road building techniques, early explorations, geography, geology, flora and fauna, the three Aboriginal Nations through whose Country Cox's Road traversed, what various travellers saw and experienced, myths about Cox's road, what and who came over Cox's Road, humour and tragedy and much more. The package is supported by a web site and App including short film clips, images, readings from diaries, poems and ballads from the colonial era and access to NSW Globe. We will also be offering limited opportunities for people to walk along Cox's Road from Mount York to Bathurst. The Cox's Road Dreaming Project will be launched in August 2015. Bathurst Seymour Centre- Changing Times Through the Eyes of Our Seniors


Senior members of the community will compile a DVD with stories and photos that seniors provide about their experiences of living in Bathurst. bathurstseymourcentre.org.au

Bathurst Regional Council- A Delightful Spot


'A Delightful Spot' is an interpretation project about the European settlement of Bathurst 200 years ago. It includes a walking trail, an exhibition, an online database of old maps and illustrations, playground equipment and a street art project; Bathsy. Communication and Resources Project Inc. & Avams Production - Bathurst Remembers 200yrs


Join 'Bathurst Remembers' in celebrating 200 years of Bathurst memories. Whether you're from Bathurst or far away, 'Bathurst Remembers' is inviting and encouraging members of the public to produce a 2 to14 minute clip focusing on your story of Bathurst. Enter into the Youtube competition by uploading your clip to the Bathurst Remembers 200yrs portal. An Awards Night is tentatively scheduled for November 2015 (TBA).

Make a lasting contribution to Bathurst memories. Open to both students and adults.

Long term staff of the Bathurst Health Service will be acknowledged for their commitment to the Health Sector with the presentation of a certificate. 

 

 

Reunion of Decendants of the First Ten Settlers of Bathurst, Chosen by Governor Macquarie


Decendants of the first ten settlers to Bathurst will reunite at 'Cheshire' Kelso in the barn built by Thomas Kite. The reunion will then tour the 10 blocks of ground granted to the 10 settlers on the banks of the Macquarie River

'100 Heritage Home of Bathurst & District' Book


A coffee-table style hardcover book with a colour photo of 100 homes and their history will be published. Research towards this publication has occured over the past 10 years

200 Year Banner Display


The Bathurst All Saints Cathedral is proudly supporting the 200 year celebration by hanging a bathurst200 banner that states "Give thanks and celebrate together". 

 

 

'200 Years in 200 Photos' 


Bathurst Branch of NSW Farmers Assoc is putting a photo book of Bathurst's rural history together. There is an exciting opportunity for local residents to contribute to the publication by submitting local rural images to This email address is being protected from spambots.
